Blind Land is fully compliant with child safety measures and is committed to taking every precaution possible to eliminate the risks associated with hazardous looped operating cords and chains. All of our blinds come fitted with the necessary safety features if they are not inherently child safe, for example our tensioned controlled styles that do not use any free-hanging cords or chains pose no threat to children or pets. Our motorised styles also remove any risk and are compatible with most of our blinds.

There are additional steps that you can take to further minimise risks from new or existing blinds if you have young children or are expecting some to visit your home.

  1. Firstly, examine all your blinds. Identify whether any of them have a looped operating chain or cord. If they do, ensure that there is a safety device fitted. This is usually attached to the wall and if missing, can be easily installed by getting in touch with a member of our team.
  2. Make sure that cords and chains cannot be reached by children. The devices usually work by raising these components out of reach of children, so take care that they have been utilised properly.
  3. When buying new blinds, consider styles that either don’t have cords or use a concealed cord design to cancel out risks completely.
  4. Relocate any beds, cots or furniture so that they are away from windows and blinds, remembering children’s fondness for climbing!

If you have any particular concerns, don’t hesitate to get in touch with a member of our team and we will be more than happy to advise you on the best blinds for you and your family.
